As a writer, her byline has appeared on more than 150 articles, in both popular magazines and scholarly journals. As a managing editor, she previously oversaw the startup and continued production of four publications, including two peer-review journals on neurology and ophthalmology.

She is managing editor of NIAAA’s peer-review journal, Alcohol Research & Health. Whenever possible she continues to hone her writing skills by authoring the Alcohol Alert bulletin, a quarterly newsletter for people in the alcoholism treatment community, and she coordinates writing and technical editing for a wide variety of public and professional educational materials. Under her stewardship, the NAEP publications have garnered five prestigious Blue Pencil awards in recognition of editorial and design excellence.
Ms. Vann currently is the project director for NAEP, overseeing all aspects of information dissemination. She is involved in bringing research findings to a broad audience, using a variety of mediums—publications, conference exhibits, graphic arts, and Web-based materials.
