Sherrie S. Aitken, Ph.D.
Chair of the Board

Dr. Aitken helped to foster many of the methodological innovations that have emerged through CSR’s contract work, including methods for evaluating multisite, community-based projects; quasi-experimental studies that respond to community concerns about human research; and methods that integrate qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis procedures.

Today, Dr. Aitken remains an active member of CSR as Chair of the Board of Directors, and her philosophy of business continues to govern every aspect of CSR’s operations. She believes in hard work, integrity, and accountability—simple principles that can be hard to find in today’s corporate environment.

She actively pursues original research, specializing in designing policy research, process and outcome evaluations, cost analyses, program monitoring, performance measurement, and epidemiologic research. Dr. Aitken frequently provides training and technical assistance to agency staff and grantees on how to develop pragmatic program evaluation designs, and instrumentation to measure program and initiative processes and outcomes.

Dr. Aitken received a Ph.D. in public administration from the School of Government and Business Administration at George Washington University, an M.P.A. in public administration from American University, and a B.A. in social studies from St. Joseph College.
